Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets with a Live Formula Engine

Formulas evaluate live, charts are drawn from the workbook's own chart data, and sheets you never opened keep their content when you save.

A live formula table and a chart drawn from it. Every value from column D onward is a formula evaluating against the sheet, with currency and percentage formats from the file. The chart is drawn from the workbook's own chart data.

The Spreadsheet Features You Use Most

The formula scratchpad also explains each result in plain language, naming the columns and rows it read.

Formulas

A formula bar with live evaluation, cell references, and ranges, plus a scratchpad that explains each result in plain language, naming the columns and rows it read.

Formatting

General, number, currency, percentage, date, and text formats, plus alignment, wrap, merge, and conditional formatting.

Charts

Bar, line, and pie charts drawn as vectors rather than pasted in as pictures.

Data

Remove duplicates, split text into columns, find and replace across a sheet, and work with multiple sheets you can rename and delete.

Grid

Column widths and row heights that are kept when you save, frozen headers, and pictures you can place and resize on the sheet.

CSV and TSV

CSV and TSV files open as a grid and are saved back with their original delimiter.

Unedited parts are carried over byte for byte. A document file is a bundle of parts. When you save, LynxOffice copies unmodified styles, comments, charts, and speaker notes back exactly as they were instead of regenerating them.

The same workbook saves to the same file every time. Saving it again in LynxOffice without changes produces an identical file, so version control and file-comparison tools do not report changes that were never made.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it keep the formatting of a workbook I did not create?

Yes. Styles, shared formulas, and every sheet you did not open are preserved when you save. Unmodified styles are written back byte for byte, and a chart you did not move is left as it was.

Can it open macro-enabled workbooks?

Yes. LynxOffice opens .xlsm files and preserves their macros when you save. It does not run macros.

Does the formula engine match Excel?

It supports the most common functions and evaluates them live in the formula bar. It does not include every Excel function, and a formula it cannot evaluate is kept in the cell rather than replaced with an incorrect result.

Can an AI assistant read my spreadsheet?

Yes, if you connect one. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server provides tools to load a workbook, read a cell range, and evaluate a formula, so an assistant can answer questions about a sheet without copying it elsewhere.
